Reality-Based Leadership Workshop

RUSSELLVILLE — The Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center will present Reality-Based Leadership from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Arkansas Tech University. Loretta Cochran, associate professor of management at ATU, will discuss concepts based on the book Reality-Based Leadership: Ditch the Drama, Restore Sanity to the Workplace, and Turn Excuses into Results, by Cy Wakeman. The workshop is suited for anyone who works in management or wants to do so. The cost is $99 per person. Breakfast, lunch and training materials are included. Vacation Bible School

MORRILTON — Morrilton First Church of the Nazarene, 108 N. Morrill St., will hold Vacation Bible School today through Saturday. Brian Bowers, a youth minister from McCrory, will lead the VBS using road signs as topics, including “Dead End,” “Wrong Way” and “One Way.” There will be snacks, crafts and games and memory work. VBS will be held from 5:30-8 p.m. today and Friday, and on Saturday, activities will start at noon with a fun day that will involve the parents. Following the fun time, the children will present memory verses and songs. Blood Drive

HEBER SPRINGS — The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Infusion Room on the third floor of Baptist Health Medical Center, 1800 Bypass Road.

Kindersongs Concert

The Perrys Concert

CONWAY — The Perrys will be in concert at 7 p.m. at Oak Bowery Baptist Church. The church’s choir will sing at 6:30 p.m. There is no admission charge, but a love offering will be taken. Second Saturday Bingo

HEBER SPRINGS — Second Saturday Bingo will be held at St. Albert Catholic Church, 21 Park Road. The event will begin with Quickfire games at 5:30 p.m., and play will continue until someone wins the $500 prize. A concession stand with homemade desserts will be open.

Aug. 13

League of Artists Meeting

CONWAY — The Conway League of Artists will meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Faulkner County Library. A participation program for members and guests will be presented by Coe Wilson. Those who want to will create a work of art using acrylic, three-dimensional items and paper to create a design on a canvass. Some samples and ideas will be offered, and refreshments will be served. Attendees will have a chance to win a well-known artist’s work, with proceeds going to the league’s scholarship fund.

Child Development Associate Training

CONWAY — Childhood Services at Arkansas State University will conduct training for individuals in the Conway area who would like to earn the Child Development Associate credential. Classes in Conway will meet weekly on Tuesday evenings, beginning Aug. 19. Sacred Heart Meat Sale

MORRILTON — Sacred Heart Catholic School is selling Petit Jean whole slow-smoked Boston butts (8-10 pounds) for $32 each and smoked pork ribs (4-4.5 pounds) for $26, just in time for Labor Day. The meat must be ordered by noon Aug. 14 and will be available for pickup from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Aug. 28 at Morrilton Packing House. Library Summer Concert Series

CONWAY — The Faulkner County Library’s Summer Concert Series 2014, featuring local performers, continues at 2 p.m. Sundays with folksimile, Aug. 10; and Men of Fire, Aug. 17. The concerts will be held in the “parklike setting” of the interior of the library, with ice cream and lemonade provided. The series is supported by Friends of the Faulkner County Library. Augsburg Fall Fest Booth Applications

AUGSBURG — JoAnn Dorn, arts, crafts and vendor booth chairwoman, is taking applications for booth spaces for the seventh annual Augsburg Fall Fest, to be held Oct. 11 at Zion Lutheran Church at the intersection of Arkansas 333 and Augsburg Road. Proceeds from the festival will benefit the River Valley Free Christian Clinic and the Augsburg Food Pantry.

Holiday Puppets Family Show

FAIRFIELD BAY — The Holiday Puppets will perform at 11 a.m. every Wednesday through Aug. 20 at the Puppet Playhouse in the post office building. The 45-minute show features Punch and Judy, Dudley the Magnificent Magician and The Cat Came Back shadow puppets. The family show is free and open to the public.

Maumelle AARP Chapter Meeting

MAUMELLE — The Maumelle AARP Chapter will meet at 6 p.m. Aug. 14 at the Maumelle Senior Wellness Center. Representatives from St. Joseph Center of Arkansas in North Little Rock will give a presentation on the past, present and future of the center, which is on the grounds of the former St. Joseph Orphanage near Camp Robinson and is being developed as an educational center to assist with hunger relief in Arkansas. A short business meeting will also be held. Members are asked to bring school supplies for the chapter’s August drive. Anyone 50 or older is welcome to attend.
