The North Little Rock School Board on Thursday hired Tameula Smith to succeed John Haynie as district transportation director when Haynie retires at the end of this calendar year.
Smith, who will earn an annual salary of $62,400, is a former routing supervisor for First Student, the company that provides school transportation service to the Little Rock School District.
Haynie is starting his 25th school year in the North Little Rock School District. However, he is among 81 district employees who took a one-time early exit incentive offered this summer to district employees as a way for the district to cut personnel costs over time.
