The counties in orange are set to go under a heat advisory Monday.

A heat advisory is set to go into effect for a large swath of Arkansas as afternoon heat-index values reach the triple digits.

The National Weather Service said the heat index, which measures how the air temperature actually feels when humidity is taken into account, will range from 105 to 108 for much of northern, eastern and central parts of the state, including Little Rock.

The advisory is set to begin at 1 p.m. and end at 7 p.m.

The weather service said the temperatures will be high enough to possibly cause heat-related illness. Caution is advised if outdoor activities are necessary, it added.

"Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun and check up on relatives, neighbors and outdoor pets," the weather service said in a statement.

In Little Rock, a high temperature of 97 with a heat index of 105 is forecast. Some points further north are expecting even hotter temperatures. Mountain Home is forecast to reach 100 for the second day in a row.
