Vehicle accident downs power to 2,500 Lonoke County residents

A vehicle crashed into Entergy Arkansas equipment Monday afternoon, leaving more than 2,500 Lonoke County customers without power at one point, officials said.

Entergy Arkansas spokesman Sally Graham said a vehicle crashed into a primary utility pole on South First Street in Cabot, causing the mass power failures.

About 2,525 customers were affected when the company tweeted about the power failures around 4 p.m. As of 5 p.m., the company's website showed about 881 customers without power.

Graham said power would be restored to all customers by 9 p.m.

Officials at the Lonoke Community Center at 1355 Front St. SW said they will accommodate anyone whose air conditioners systems have been affected by the power failures. The center is open until 9 p.m.
