41 marijuana plants found in drug raid

Little Rock narcotics detectives arrested a man in southwest Little Rock after they served a search and seizure warrant and reported finding marijuana growing in his bedroom.

According to arrest reports, police went into the 11 Old Glory Court home of Manuel Anderson about 11 a.m. and found 41 marijuana plants.

Anderson, 40, was arrested at his home and charged with possession of marijuana and manufacturing of marijuana.

No further details about the investigation, or the raid, were available and spokesmen with the Little Rock Police Department did not respond to requests for further information.

Anderson was cited, given a court date, and released, according to court records, because the Pulaski County jail remained closed to most property and nonviolent offenders.

Anderson is to appear in Little Rock District Court on Sept. 9.

Granddad accused of brandishing knife

A Little Rock man was arrested Wednesday, accused of threatening his grandson and son-in-law with a knife.

Benny Gray, 57, was arrested at 6:20 p.m. at his home at 1717 Green Meadow Drive. He pulled a knife on his son-in-law and grandson, 10, after he "became upset," according to an arrest report. Gray purportedly held the knife to his son-in-law's head.

Further details on the incident were unavailable.

Gray was charged with first-degree endangering the welfare of minor and two counts of aggravated assault on a family or household member. He was not listed on the Pulaski County jail roster late Thursday.

Struck, manhandled by teacher, boy says

Jacksonville police are investigating an incident at North Pulaski High School in which a teacher purportedly attacked a student.

Officers responded about 12:45 p.m. Tuesday to the school at 718 Harris Road. The principal, Jeffery Senn, told officers that a security camera had recorded a teacher choking a 17-year-old student in the lunchroom, according to a police incident report.

The student told officers that after mouthing a curse word to the 51-year-old teacher, the teacher elbowed him, slapped his face and choked him, according to the report.

Officers reported that the student had red marks on his neck, for which he received treatment from the school nurse.

The teacher, who also coaches a school athletic team, told police that he "bumped" into the student to "get his attention" after being cursed at, the report says. After that, the student purportedly tried to punch him.

No charges had been filed in the incident late Thursday.

A spokesman for the Pulaski County Special School District could not be reached for comment.

Deputies arrest man in neighbor assault

An England woman answered her door Thursday afternoon and was attacked by her neighbor, according to an arrest report.

The 26-year-old woman told police that a man knocked on her door and asked to step inside. She refused and attempted to close the door, but the man purportedly reached inside and grabbed her arm.

He told the woman that he wanted sex and talked about her genitals, according to the report. The woman broke away, and he left, the report said.

After the woman provided a description of the attacker to the Pulaski County sheriff's office, deputies arrested Kamron Douglas about 4:40 p.m. at his home at 15000 Scruggs Road.

Douglas, 28, was charged with burglary and third-degree sexual assault. Late Thursday, he was being held with bail set $10,000 at the Pulaski County jail.

2 LR officers injured by 'enraged' man

Little Rock police reported that two officers were injured Tuesday in an altercation with a man who interfered with emergency response personnel.

Officers arrived about 8:30 p.m. at 2209 Bragg St., where emergency personnel were performing respiratory procedures on a patient, according to an arrest report. But Antonio White, 33, refused to "move out of their way," according to the report.

When officers asked him to move, he purportedly refused and "became enraged." White then tried to strike an officer attempting to arrest him, the report says.

That officer and another officer who helped arrest White were injured in the confrontation, according to police. The severity of their injuries was unknown.

White was charged with second-degree battery, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. He was being held in lieu of bond late Thursday.
