Police confirm homicide victim is local musician

Little Rock police Thursday formally identified a man found fatally shot early Sunday as a local musician.

Friends had already publicly identified the homicide victim found in a carport at 2221 Howard St. as Terry "TC" Edwards, 43, but police said in the days after that they were still working to confirm the identity.

Little Rock Police Department Lt. Sidney Allen said investigators had difficulty locating Edwards' next-of-kin and had to instead get "absolute confirmation from the medical examiner."

He said investigators were aware that Edwards name had been widely publicized, including numerous notes of remembrance posted to his Facebook page and events in his honor at some local establishments he frequented, such as one set Sunday at Midtown Billiards.

Allen said authorities were fairly confident early on that Edwards was the victim, but could not announce it until they knew for sure on Thursday, four days after his body was found.

"We just can't put it out there," he said. "We have a different standard we have to follow."

No arrests have been made in the death, Allen added, noting that police are "still working hard to develop a suspect in this case."
