Arkansas student gets assistantship for prestigious workshop

RUSSELLVILLE — A student at Arkansas Tech University is among just 12 students from across the U.S. who have been awarded an assistantship for a prestigious printmaking workshop.

Zac Counts is a senior graphic design major from Wickes. He has been awarded an assistantship for the 2015 Frogman's Printmaking Workshop at the University of South Dakota.

Counts is on course to graduate in May with a Bachelor of Arts degree in graphic design. Dawn Ward, professor of art and head of Arkansas Tech's Department of Art, says the workshops host printmakers for intense weeklong sessions in specialized printmaking courses and provide attendees with valuable networking and inspirational connections that help advance their careers.

Counts will receive funding from the assistantship and from the Arkansas Tech Student Development Fund to help defray costs.
