Police: West Memphis man charged after false report

12:35 p.m. update:

A West Memphis man was arrested after police say he falsely reported an armed man was in the area of an elementary school early Thursday.

Jonathan Foster, 27, admitted to police that he made the call and gave out false information, police say.

The call stemmed from a domestic issue with an individual unrelated to the school, the West Memphis Police Department said in a statement.

Foster is charged with filing a false report with a law enforcement agency.

He's being held at the Crittenden County jail with a bond hearing set for Monday, according to the statement.

Earlier:

An elementary school in West Memphis is no longer on lockdown after an unspecified issue prompted authorities to respond Friday morning.

A woman who answered the phone at the West Memphis School District’s superintendent’s office said there was a “domestic issue” at Wonder Elementary School, 901 S. 17th St., and the school went into a lockdown. She added the issue has been resolved by police and the school is now operating normally.

A police official said later that the lockdown may have been caused by a prank call.

Details on the disturbance itself weren’t immediately known. A woman who answered at the phone at the West Memphis Police Department said only that there had been an “incident” at the school and referred questions to a spokesman who was unavailable. She said it "wasn't even" a fight and said there were no injuries.
