2 health care workers arrested on Medicaid fraud charges

Arkansas' attorney general says health care workers from Pulaski and Phillips counties have been arrested for alleged Medicaid fraud.

Attorney General Dustin McDaniel said Tuesday authorities had arrested 53-year-old Patricia Sylvester of Marvell and 36-year-old Stephanie Simpson of North Little Rock.

McDaniel said Sylvester is accused of defrauding the Arkansas Medicaid program of $340. Investigators found that Sylvester submitted fraudulent claims to Medicaid for payment for attendant care services. Investigators allege Sylvester submitted Medicaid claims while the woman she was contracted to care for in her home was actually hospitalized in Jonesboro.

Simpson is accused of defrauding the Arkansas Medicaid program of $234. Investigators allege that Simpson submitted fraudulent Medicaid claims for reimbursement for at-home personal care services she did not provide while a patient was hospitalized in January.
