ArcBest names new CFO, adds innovation role

ArcBest Corp. on Friday named a new chief financial officer and said the previous CFO will fill the newly created position of ArcBest chief innovation officer and will also serve as president of the company’s ArcBest Technologies information-technology subsidiary.

David R. Cobb, who has worked as vice president-controller and chief accounting officer at ArcBest, will move into the CFO job Jan. 1, the Fort Smith-based transportation company said in a statement.

Michael E. Newcity, who has been CFO since 2010 and senior vice president and chief information officer since 2013, will move into the newly created innovation position.

"Creating a dedicated center for technology and business innovation across all of the ArcBest companies will enable us to continue serving our customers across the supply chain in the way they expect,” ArcBest President and CEO Judy McReynolds said. "While Michael Newcity now devotes his sole attention to this area, David Cobb's experience in finance and accounting at ArcBest and other companies will ensure a seamless transition for investors and other financial stakeholders."

The company is working on filling Cobb’s previous role, according to the statement.

In addition to ArcBest Technologies, ArcBest Corp. is the parent company of ABF Freight, ABF Logistics, Panther Premium Logistics and FleetNet America.
