Snow possible in northern part of state

Weather forecasters say snow could fall on parts of Oklahoma and Arkansas on Christmas Eve.

The National Weather Service in Tulsa says areas of light rain and snow are expected to develop Tuesday night, mainly across portions of northeast Oklahoma and Northwest Arkansas.

Temperatures should be cold enough for snow across far northeastern Oklahoma and northwestern Arkansas late Tuesday night along with the potential for some light accumulations. Accumulations will range from a trace to around a half inch, but an inch of snow will be possible at higher elevations or northwestern Arkansas before the precipitation tapers off on Wednesday.

Forecasters say Christmas Eve will be chilly, but the weather on Christmas Day will be breezy and mild with highs in the 50s.
