Woman fatally struck on I-30 in LR

A Little Rock woman was fatally struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross Interstate 30 on foot on Christmas night, authorities said.

Arkansas State Police say Sara R. Espinoza, 24, was crossing westbound I-30 west of 65th Street in Little Rock shortly before 6 p.m. when she was hit by a 2004 Mazda.

Espinoza was taken to Baptist Hospital in Little Rock, where she died less than an hour later, police said.

The Mazda driver was not injured.

Conditions at the time were described as clear and dry.

The death was the 457th in a traffic crash in Arkansas so far this year, according to preliminary figures.
