Man charged with battery after spitting in officer’s face, police say

A Hope man was jailed Monday night on multiple charges, one of which stemmed from the man spitting in the face of a police officer.

Printis Weston, 50, was pulled over near the intersection of Laurel and Hazel streets, where he was arrested for driving while intoxicated, refusal to submit to a chemical test, driving with a suspended license, driving with expired tags and driving with no insurance, a news release from the Hope Police Department states.

Authorities then added a charge of second-degree battery when Weston purportedly spit in the face of one of his arresting officers.

Weston is currently being held at the Hempstead County jail before his initial court appearance.
