GOURMET GAME

Game audience tries meats, lasers at Pine Bluff dinner

PINE BLUFF - About 150 pounds of wildlife was donated to the annual Taste of Wildlife supper held Feb. 7 at Pine Bluff Country Club. With that bounty, chef Jamie McAfee - with the help of some purchased quail and frog legs - created a gourmet spread for a sold-out crowd of about 200 people.

The menu for the buffet-style dinner included Wild Turkey Enchiladas, Asian Duck With Asian Slaw, Red Snapper With Etouffee, Dove With Sherry Cream and Wild Boar With Blackberry Sauce. McAfee explained that he wanted to serve something you wouldn’t normally get at a deer camp.

Before dinner, the guests, many outfitted in camouflage or hunting clothes, enjoyed a laser shooting gallery provided by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. Winners received a plush toy animal adorned with a variety of jewelry. A silent auction, a draw-down game and entertainment and music by D.J. Mario Luna rounded out the evening.

Laura Smart served as event chairman. Money raised benefits the Arts and Science Center for Southeast Arkansas in Pine Bluff.
