Woman dies after attack at El Dorado home

EL DORADO— Authorities say El Dorado police shot and wounded a man while investigating an attack on a 28-year-old woman.

El Dorado police Capt. Kevin Holt said officers responded to a home Saturday night on reports that a woman had been injured. Once there, officers discovered 28-year-old Lavecchia Dixon suffering from multiple wounds. Dixon was taken to a local hospital then airlifted to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, where she later died.

Holt said police responding to the home encountered 25-year-old Rashad Morgan. According to Holt, Morgan pointed a gun at officers and police opened fire on him. Morgan is in critical condition at an El Dorado hospital.

Holt told the El Dorado News Times that authorities are awaiting an official cause of death for Dixon.
