BASEBALL Arkansas moves up in polls

After a 6-0 start to the season, Arkansas moved to No. 22 in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association poll and No. 24 in the Baseball America Poll.

The Razorbacks swept Appalachian State and Eastern Illinois in their first two series and will host South Alabama in a three-game series starting Friday.

SAU’s Cameron honored by GAC

Southern Arkansas shortstop Tyler Cameron was named Player of the Week by the Great American Conference.

Cameron had a .579 on-base percentage in four games for the Muleriders. He had 1 double, 3 home runs and 2 stolen bases.BASKETBALL UCA’s Duever honored by Southland

Central Arkansas senior center Courtney Duever was named women’s player of the week for the fourth time this season by the Southland Conference.

Duever finished with a career-high 36 points and 12 rebounds in the Sugar Bears’ 62-54 victory Saturday over Oral Roberts at the Farris Center in Conway. She scored 24 of her 36 points in the second half, with 15 coming in the final 6:13 to help UCA remain in first place in the Southland standings with four games remaining.

The 12 rebounds gave Duever her 12th game with at least 10 points and 10 rebounds this season and eighth in conference play.

UCA (17-8, 11-3 Southland) hosts Sam Houston State on Thursday and Lamar on Saturday.

GAC announces Player of the Week

Arkansas-Monticello’s Brandon Wilson was named men’s player of the week by the Great American Conference.

Wilson scored 21 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and had 3 blocks against Arkansas Tech and scored 20 points against Harding, helping the Boll Weevils earn a spot in the GAC Tournament.

Harding’s Kristen Celsor and Henderson State’s Krystal Beachum shared women’s player of the week honors.

Celsor averaged 26.5 points, 12.5 rebounds and 3.5 steals as the Lady Bisons won the GAC regular season title.

Beachum set the Henderson State and GAC single-game scoring record with a 41 points in the Lady Reddies’ double-overtime victory against Southwestern Oklahoma State.

SOFTBALL Arkansas’ Navarro named Player of the Week

Arkansas shortstop Clarisa Navarro was named SEC Player of the Week after hitting .588 in six games with 12 RBI, 10 hits and 10 runs in helping the Razorbacks extend their winning streak to 11 games.

Defensively, she did not commit an error and had 14 assists while helping turn three double plays.

GOLF UALR in eighth place

The UALR women are eighth out of 15 teams at the USA Women’s Invitational at the Azalea City Golf Course in Mobile, Ala.

The Trojans shot a 45-over-par 621. Jacksonville State leads the tournament with a 15-over 603, one stroke ahead of Memphis.

Junior Sofie Kvamstrom is tied for 11th with a 36-hole score at 6-over-par 150.

UCA in fifth place

The Central Arkansas women are in fifth place after two rounds at the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islander Classic in Corpus Christi, Texas.

The Sugar Bears shot a 617 and trail Lamar by 20 strokes. Houston Baptist is second with a 602.

Sophomore Sarah Brown is tied for fourth with a 4-over-par 148. Junior Kendra Mann is tied for eighth at 149.
