Sport of kings: Oaklawn, 2705 Central Ave., Hot Springs, opens for another 57-day season of horse racing, with the first post at 1 p.m. Jan. 10. Races continue Thursday-Sunday through April 12, with special Monday races on Jan. 20 and Feb. 17. Regular post times are 1:30 p.m. weekdays and Sundays, 1 p.m. Saturdays, 1 p.m. Mondays. Gates open at 11 a.m. General admission is $2, $2 for parking and reserved seats for $2.50 on weekdays and $4.50 on weekends. Call (800) 625-5296 or visit oaklawn.com.

Broadway sings: The Arkansas Symphony Orchestra devotes itself to hum-inducing, singable show tunes with “Best of Broadway,” an ASO Pops concert at 8 p.m. Feb. 15 and 3 p.m. Feb. 16. Singers Destan Owens and Mandy Gonzalez, with conductor Geoffrey Robson will join the ASO for a selection of music from a variety of Broadway genres. Tickets are $18-$59.
