An Arkansas Supreme Court justice has announced that she is seeking re-election to the state's highest court in a statement that was released Wednesday.
Justice Karen Baker was first elected to the court in 2010 after defeating two other opponents to win the seat, which had been vacated by retiring Justice Annabelle Clinton Imber.
"What I enjoy most is listening to wonderful people from all walks of life across Arkansas. I hear they want a fair justice system, one that will bring common sense to bear," Baker said in the statement.
Baker has previously served as circuit and juvenile judge in the 20th Judicial District for five years and at the Arkansas Court of Appeals for 10 years. She also has served as a Supreme Court liaison to the Arkansas Board of Law Examiners, the state's Continuing Legal Education Board and the Arkansas Judges and Lawyers Assistance Program.
She lives with her husband, David Hogue, and their three children in Clinton.
The election will be held May 20. No other candidates have been announced in the race.
