LR man surrenders on 12 terror counts

A Little Rock man wanted on 12 terroristic-act warrants surrendered to police Saturday, a department spokesman said Sunday.

Jamie Clayton, 20, was arrested and charged with 12 counts of committing a terroristic act. He remained at the Pulaski County jail Sunday.

Clayton is accused of shooting at a house, a bus and 12 people near West 25th and Lewis streets on Dec. 27, police said.

About 2 a.m. that day, area residents heard a first round of gunfire, but didn’t see anything when they looked outside, according to a police report.

A few hours later, a woman returning from a trip found bullet holes in her home and vehicle and called police.

Nearly 10 hours later, witnesses reported a second round of gunfire. Seven women told officers they were outside when a white pickup drove by on West 25th Street and a man in the truck bed began firing, police said. One woman, Shanderka Dotson, 37, was struck in the foot but declined medical treatment, police said.

Five vehicles were hit in the shooting, along with a Central Arkansas Transit Authority bus. The bus’s three occupants were uninjured.

According to police, about 30-50 shots were fired with a .223-caliber rifle.

Clayton was out on bond from an October shooting. In that shooting, he and two others are accused of opening fire on officers from the inside of a South Monroe Street home.
