Schaffer hired as Fayetteville Veterans Home administrator

Kriss Schaffer — former co-owner of a Charleston area nursing home — has been hired as the new administrator of the Fayetteville Veterans Home and charged with the task of turning around a facility recently cited for several complaints, including a November escape of a patient that resulted in the administrator at the time being fired.

Schaffer graduated from the University of Arkansas and has 31 years of experience as director of nursing and nursing home administrator in Charleston, according to a news release.

“I have always been one of those administrators who wouldn’t ask someone to do something I wouldn’t do myself,” Schaffer said in the news release. “I cannot know what is going on with the staff without being in there with them, and I intend to be there a lot. I’m not a 9 to 5, Monday through Friday kind of administrator. I work weekends, too.”

Schaffer begins work Wednesday.
