5A-CENTRAL BOYS

Warriors’ best shot falls short

Pulaski Academy found a way to slow down Little Rock Christian’s three-point shooters, then pulled away for a 57-40 victory Tuesday night in the 5A-Central opener at Warriors Gymnasium.

Little Rock Christian pulled within 34-33 with about 6 minutes left in the third quarter, but the Bruins’ defense clamped down held Little Rock Christian to seven points the rest of the way.

Pulaski Academy’s offense wasn’t overwhelming, but the Bruins (10-2) managed to slowly pull away from the Warriors (7-4). They led 46-35 after three quarters and twice built the lead to 17 points in the final quarter.

“I thought we could have executed better,” Pulaski Academy Coach Roger Franks said. “I thought the first half Little Rock Christian executed really well. They played inside-out and hit their threes. I thought they we gave their shooters a little too much space in the first half, and our guys adjusted and we played a lot better.”

Little Rock Christian guard Cole Hendrixson made five three-pointers in the first half, including three in the second quarter, as he scored 15 points, but Pulaski Academy held him scoreless in the second half.

Lawson Korita and Marcus Wallace lead Pulaski Academy with 17 points each, while Chad Miikhaelis added 11.

Aaron Rosenthal added 12 points for the Warriors.
