False robbery report leads to drug arrest in Benton

A call to police about an aggravated robbery at a Benton hotel led to the arrest of the purported victim Monday afternoon.

Akerion Warren, 30, was charged with filing a false police report after officers were dispatched to the suspected robbery at the Cedarwood Inn, 16600 Interstate 30 Frontage Road, at 12:22 p.m. according to a statement from the Benton Police Department.

Warren told authorities that a man walked into his hotel room and robbed him at gunpoint; however, an investigation revealed that no crime had occurred, and Warren was arrested for filing the false report. Police also found a substance authorities believed to be methamphetamine and a pipe commonly used to smoke drugs in the room, according to the report.

As a result, Warren was also charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
