Earnings report

Companies reporting quarterly earnings Tuesday included:

Halliburton Co., the oilfield services company, a profit of $793 million, or 93 cents a share, up from $669 million, or 72 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue rose 5 percent to $7.64 billion. Shares fell 88 cents, or 1.7 percent, to close Tuesday at $49.78.

Johnson & Johnson, the world’s biggest maker of healthcare products, a profit of $3.52 billion, or $1.23 a share, up from $2.57 billion, or 91 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue rose 4.5 percent to $18.4 billion. Shares fell $1.03, or 1 percent, to close at $94.03.

TD Ameritrade, the online brokerage, a profit of $192 million, or 35 cents a share, up from $147 million, or 27 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue rose nearly 16 percent to $752 million. Shares of the Omaha, Neb.-based company rose $1.44, or 4.4 percent, to close Tuesday at $33.85.

Verizon Communications Inc., the largest U.S. cellphone company, a profit of $5.07 billion, or $1.76 a share, up from a loss of $4.23 billion, or $1.48 a share, a year ago. Revenue rose 3 percent to $31.07 billion. Shares fell 65 cents, or 1.3 percent, to close at $47.70.
