Man steals pellet rifle, Nikes from Academy Sports in LR

A man stole a gun and a pair of shoes from Academy Sports after displaying a knife Thursday afternoon, authorities said.

About 2:20 p.m. Thursday, police said they responded to a report of an attempted robbery at 11400 W. Markham St., where store employee Tim Pride, 27, told officers an unknown man had stolen a pellet rifle and Nike shoes, according to a Little Rock Police Department report.

Pride said the robber displayed a knife after Pride tried to stop him from leaving without purchasing the items, the report states. The robber ran from the building, and Price chased him across Markham Street but later lost sight of him, according to the report.

Officers searched the area but didn't find the robber, police said.

The suspect is described as a white man with a thick mustache and goatee, standing about 5-foot-10 and weighing about 225 pounds, the report states. He was last seen wearing a "gray skull cap," bluejeans and white tennis shoes.
