LITTLE ROCK — Gov. Mike Beebe has named a Little Rock doctor to serve on the Arkansas State University board of trustees.

The governor announced his appointment Thursday of Dr. Tim Langford to the board that oversees the Arkansas State schools. Langford practices at Arkansas Urology in Little Rock and is a graduate of Arkansas State.

Langford played football for Arkansas State and was named an all-conference quarterback. He later went to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences for medical training and eventually became the hospital's chief urology resident.

Langford had served on the Arkansas Coordinating Board of Higher Education, and he'll step down from that post to join the ASU board.

Langford's term expires Jan. 14, 2019.
