10 a.m. UPDATE:
Two people were injured in a shooting Thursday morning in Little Rock's South Main Street district, police said.
Officers responded about 3:12 a.m. to a shooting at 1316 S. Main St., where they saw Maurice Pinkey, 27, of North Little Rock lying on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound in his shoulder, according to a Little Rock police report.
Pinkey told police that he was shot in the alley behind 1222 S. Main St. and the gunman fled east through a parking lot across the street, got into a Cadillac and fled. A witness said the gunman — described as a black man, about 5 foot 6 and 145 pounds, wearing a white collared shirt and bluejeans — was still shooting as he fled, the report states.
Officers then found Matt Gillum, 26, of Little Rock in the same alley suffering from “several” gunshot wounds in his chest, according to the report. Pinkey and Gillum were both taken to Little Rock hospitals for treatment of their injuries; their conditions weren’t immediately available.
A witness told police that before shots were fired, a man showed her a black gun and said, “I’m tired of them picking on me,” according to the report. He was described as a light-complected black man, a lightly built 6 feet tall, wearing short hair, a purple American Idol shirt and bluejeans, and carrying a white-and-black bag.
Two people were shot early Thursday morning in Little Rock's South Main Street district, authorities said.
The injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.
Police on the scene said it happened about 3:15 a.m. in or near the intersection of Main and 13th streets.
Police vehicles blocked Main between there and Daisy L. Gatson Bates Drive. Crime scene tape was strung on both sides of Main along that block with about a half-dozen patrol cars situated at each end by 6 a.m.
Crime scene specialists about that time were removing bloodied clothes from the east side of Main Street south of 13th Street.
Police on the scene said detectives were investigating and it wasn't known whether a suspect had been developed or arrested.
Main Street reopened to traffic just before 6:30 a.m.
