2 crashes kill 3; PB police collide en route to accident

Three people were killed in two separate accidents on Arkansas roadways Saturday, according to reports from Arkansas State Police.

Aaron Durham, 20, of Rison was

driving north on U.S. 63 in Pine Bluff about 11:02 p.m. when his 2013 GMC pickup crossed the center line and struck a 2013 Chevrolet pickup head-on.

A third vehicle, a 2003 Toyota Camry, then struck the Chevrolet truck and the truck caught fire, the report states.

Durham and the driver of the Chevrolet truck, Caleb Spaulding, 18, of Montrose, were both killed.

Spaulding's passenger, Taylor Young, 22, of Portland, was injured and taken to Jefferson Regional Medical Center, the report states. Information on Young's condition was not available Sunday.

There were two people in the Camry, but neither were injured, according to the report.

Two Pine Bluff police vehicles also crashed while responding to the wreck.

The officers, whose names have not been released, collided on Interstate 530 while en route to the scene of the U.S. 63 crash, according to a news release from the department.

Both officers suffered injuries that were not life-threatening, the release states.

State police are investigating the incident, and no further details were available late Sunday, said state police spokesman Bill Sadler.

A Missouri man was killed Saturday evening in a crash on Arkansas 223 in Fulton County, according to a report from Arkansas State Police.

David Stratton, 38, of Caulfield, Mo., was driving south along Arkansas 223 near Browns Chapel Road when his 2000 GMC Jimmy crossed the center line and struck a 2003 Dodge pickup, the report states.

Stratton died as a result of the crash. The driver of the pickup, Billy Bryant, 76, of Henderson, was injured, the report states. He was taken to Baxter Regional Medical Center, where he was treated and released.
