Retired NLR nurse seeks schools seat

Sandi Campbell, a retired school nurse supervisor in the North Little Rock School District, filed Monday as a candidate for election Sept. 16 to the district School Board's Zone 6 position.

The filing deadlines for two open positions on the North Little Rock board and the two open positions on the Little Rock School Board are noon today at the Pulaski County clerk's office. The three-year terms of office are unpaid.

Campbell, 69, graduated from Crossett High and earned her registered nurse credentials from Baptist Medical Center. She worked for the North Little Rock district for 35 years -- 25 years as school nurse supervisor -- before retiring a couple of years ago. She is married and has two adult children who graduated from district schools.

Jon T. Zakrzewski currently represents Zone 6, which encompasses the northeast section of the district. He filed last week as a candidate for re-election to the board seat.

In North Little Rock, the Zone 5 seat representing the north-central part of the city is open for election this year, in addition to the Zone 6 seat.

In Little Rock, the Zone 1 seat, representing east and downtown Little Rock, and the Zone 5 seat, representing a portion of west Little Rock, are open for election.
