A slow-moving cold front moving into the state will increase the chance of thunderstorms on Tuesday and Wednesday, forecasters say.

A few severe thunderstorms could be seen in the northern half of the state Tuesday, beginning in the afternoon and lasting through the night, National Weather Service warning coordination meteorologist John Robinson, warning coordination meteorologist said in an email.

Central and south Arkansas could see isolated severe storms Wednesday afternoon and evening, Robinson said.

Damaging winds will be the greatest threat in this round of storms, he said, along with locally heavy rain in some areas, dropping more than one inch of precipitation in an hour.
