LR youth arrested in June 26 robbery

Little Rock police made an arrest Monday afternoon in a Wal-Mart robbery in late June.

According to arrest reports, Steven King, 18, of 54 Westminster Drive was arrested at 4:36 p.m. at 1713 E. 19th St.

Court records state that officers went to the Wal-Mart at 700 S. Bowman Road on June 26 after employees said they tried to stop a man who had stuffed a fishing reel in his pants, only to have the man raise his shirt and display a handgun in his waistband.

Officers tracked down a man that night in the 9600 block of West 36th Street who told officers he was Anthony King and that the "Steven King" tattoos on his forearms referred to his brother.

Eventually, officers realized they'd been duped, and investigators were able to positively identify King as the man who fled on foot from the store after threatening employees with the gun, reports state.

Charged with aggravated robbery and theft of property, King remained in the Pulaski County jail Tuesday afternoon, where he was being held in lieu of a $30,000 bond.
