Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected across most of Arkansas on Wednesday, a day after a storm packing heavy rains and high winds pushed through and knocked out power to thousands, forecasters say.

Storms will continue in parts of central and south Arkansas in the morning and shift south as the morning wears on, the National Weather Service said Wednesday.

Locally heavy rain remains a concern, forecasters said, particularly in the southwest part of the state. A flash flood warning remained in place for Polk County in western Arkansas until 9:30 a.m. after 1 to 3 inches fell there in the early morning hours, the weather service said.

More storms are expected Thursday, especially in the state’s west and south, and spotty storms are possible again Friday, the weather service said.
