Man shot in arm in Little Rock; no arrests made

Authorities are investigating after a 24-year-old Little Rock man was shot in the arm overnight.

Little Rock police say Joe Kelley III showed up at CHI St. Vincent Hospital shortly after midnight with a gunshot wound in his upper left arm that was not believed to be life-threatening.

According to a police report, Kelley was initially "reluctant" to provide information but later said he and another man were driving when they turned off 36th Street and at some point were approached by two men.

"[Kelley] stated that everything was 'cool' at first," police wrote in the report, noting that Kelley "did not know exactly where" the shooting occurred. "He said a verbal argument started and as he exited the vehicle, one of the suspects started shooting."

Police spoke with the other man in the car by phone, the report said, noting that he told investigators they had stopped their vehicle to check the tires because they had run over some glass. Then the two men approached them and opened fire, the report said.

No arrests have been made.
