Shots rang out in Little Rock's River Market district after a group of "unruly" teenagers were removed by police from a free, outdoor showing of a Harry Potter film. There were no reports of injuries.

The Little Rock Police Department said it started when officers escorted a large group of teenagers from the Movies in the Park screening of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone at the River Market Amphitheater "due to their unruly behavior."

As the group reached the 400 block of President Clinton Avenue about 9:45 p.m., multiple shots were fired and "everyone began to run in different directions," a police report states.

One teen who was initially believed to have a gun was placed in handcuffs and searched but later released when police didn't find a weapon.

No arrests were made, but authorities are "investigating ways to identify the suspect(s)," police Lt. Sidney Allen said in an email. He added that measures to improve security at the weekly film series beyond an already heightened police presence are being discussed.

"It is our goal to provide a safe, enjoyable atmosphere for all visitors to the park," he wrote. "We are talking with all entities associated with Movies in the Park to formulate better security strategies for this event."

And I was thinking of taking my grandsons there. They are 9 and 7.

This is a good example of what Little Rock as a city and its citizens are fighting against daily - senseless stupidity based on some slight or other dumb thing. A pity, but I hope this doesn't stifle the willingness of people to come out. Y2CHAOS - still look at taking them, it's a wonderful time had by all. Don't be frightened indoors by this. Officers were on the scene.

Did the teenagers not fill out the ATF4473 and pass a background check? There should be a bunch of new laws to keep me in check. Law abiding citizens are a clear and present danger according to the Democrats.

Chances are the kid got the gun from the "law abiding" citizen. Kinda easy to be "law abiding" when you can carve so many holes in, under, around and through the so-called gun laws.

What gun laws?

How about a law that says teenage thugs from the ghetto have to stay in the ghetto, instead of coming to other parts of town to look for people to victimize or otherwise screw up their day. The River Market area is always fun and safe until this specific demographic shows up.

Impossible to prove, but I'd certainly be willing to bet the guns these young thugs were carrying were not registered.

I don't think that Arkansas requires any gun registration. But I take your point.

Why do some people just HAVE to ruin what could be a good thing for the public? Sigh. But dont you dare "profile"..
