Trial to begin for Bull Shoals police chief

HARRISON, Ark. — The trial of the Bull Shoals police chief on charges of using excessive force during an arrest is set to begin in federal court in Harrison.

The trial of Police Chief Daniel Sutterfield is to begin Tuesday on allegations that he kicked and stomped Nicholas Dore and used a stun gun on Dore while he Dore was handcuffed in July 2013. Sutterfield is charged with depriving Dore of his rights and trying to cover it up by ordering an officer to falsify records.

Sutterfield has pleaded not guilty.

Federal prosecutors have filed a motion saying they have evidence that Sutterfield committed similar acts against two people in 2012. Sutterfield's attorney, Bruce Eddy, argues that there isn't sufficient evidence to prove those claims.
