WHAT: Coco-Roons

STATS: Vary by flavor. The Lemon Pie, for example, contain 84 calories and 6.3 fat, 6.2 carbohydrates, 1.1 fiber and 1.2 protein grams. Available at Whole Foods and Fresh Market. More information at mycocoroons.com.

THE SKINNY: I was uncertain about Coco-Roons, cookies of dried unsweetened coconut, when I saw the publicist's pitch: "I thought your readers would love to know about Coco-Roons, an organic, non-GMO, and guilt-free treat from Wonderfully Raw!" Other keywords used: "low-sugar," "gluten-free," "vegan," "live food."

I warned her: "I'm honest, so if they're at all icky, I will say so! Use your best judgment before sending samples!"

Surprise, she still sent them.

And, surprise, I liked them. The Lemon Pie and Brownie offered pleasing chewiness and just the right sweetness (as they should for $7.99, the online price before shipping). Other flavors are Cacao Nib, Almond & Strawberry PB&J, Apple Pie, Vanilla Maple and minis in Vanilla Maple, Brownie and Lemon Pie.
