Jason Welsh, 32, was arrested Friday morning and charged with one count each of fleeing, reckless driving, driving with a suspended license and false imprisonment; four counts of careless driving; and five counts of failure to stop.

About 11:30 a.m. Friday, police saw a woman attempt to exit the back seat of a Nissan Sentra as it was traveling southbound on Enmar Drive. When an officer tried to stop the car, the driver took off and drove east on Interstate 30 for about 10 miles before taking the exit toward Bankhead Drive.

Police said the chase ended when the driver -- later identified as Welsh -- crashed at the intersection of Frazier Pike and Jones Street in College Station. Welsh got out of the car and fled into the woods, police spokesman Lt. Sidney Allen said. Police caught Welsh after a brief foot chase.

The woman in the vehicle with Welsh told police that she had been held against her will, according to an arrest report.

Welsh remained in the Pulaski County jail Friday night. Bail had been set at $27,200, but he had a parole hold placed on his custody.
