Authorities have identified the two highway workers killed Monday when a truck flipped in Clinton, sending logs into a construction zone.
In a report posted online early Tuesday afternoon, Arkansas State Police identified the workers who were killed as Hubert Keith Moore, 51, of Chester, and Ricardo Trochez, 40, of Atkins.
Police on Monday said 19 others were injured at the construction site at the Archey Creek bridge on U.S. 65 in Clinton, including a dozen who were reported to have received major injuries.
An Arkansas State Police spokesman said shortly after noon that his agency did not have updates on the conditions of all the injured workers, but that police had not been notified of any additional fatalities.
The wreck happened about 3:20 p.m. as Jerry Hickman, 39, of Bee Branch drove a log truck south on U.S. 65, the report said. Police say one of the truck's tires blew out, causing the load to shift and the truck to overturn.
The logs then spilled from the truck, hitting two parked vehicles, one moving one and "numerous construction workers," the report said. The report did not list the names of all the injured workers, but it said a final version to be released later would include them.
Moore died at the scene while Trochez died at Ozark Health Medical Center in Clinton.
Hickman suffered unspecified injuries.
Correction: State police misidentified Hubert Keith Moore in an earlier report. The story has been updated to reflect the corrected information.
