SPRING DINNER

A little sunshine, a little rain dot Scott Connections fete

Scott Connections' 16th annual Spring Dinner was going to be held June 8 rain or shine, said organizers, and the dinner had a little bit of both -- rain and shine.

The event was held at the lakeside home of Kay and Bill Bevis of North Little Rock, and just to be on the safe side, they moved the event into an airy barn on the property, with more tables under a tent outside. Cocktails and a silent auction began the evening, followed by a Southern-style dinner by Woods Catering of Camden. About 200 guests enjoyed fried fish and chicken, grits, turnip greens, hush puppies, slaw and fried pies.

Funds raised, almost $35,000, said board member Camille Bennett, help support Scott Plantation Settlement, which collects and preserves buildings and items of historical significance to the settlement.
