Heavy rain may move through the southern part of the state through Mena to Star City. Officials predict up to 2 inches of rain in an hour and that some flash flood warnings may become necessary, National Weather Service warning coordination meteorologist John Robinson said. Damaging winds should be expected with the storms, forecasters added.

Tuesday will be the most likely day for heavy rainfall, especially during the hotter parts of the day, forecasters said. Thunderstorms will be possible at just about any time of the day, the weather service said.

Arkansas may also expect heavy rain Wednesday and Thursday.
