Head-on crash kills Conway woman

A Conway woman was killed Monday in a head-on crash on U.S. 64 in Faulkner County, authorities said.

It happened about 2:30 p.m. as Mattie Reynolds, 25, drove a 2005 Honda Civic west on the highway.

Arkansas State Police say an eastbound 2007 Chevrolet driven by Deborah Montgomery-Bland "veered to the left," crossing a turning lane and then hitting the front of the Civic in the westbound lanes.

It wasn't clear what caused the Chevrolet to veer into opposing traffic. Conditions at the time were described as clear and dry.

Reynolds suffered fatal injuries. Montgomery-Bland, 54, of Conway was taken to Conway Regional Medical Center. The extent of her injuries wasn't clear.

The death was one of three fatalities in traffic crashes Monday in Arkansas, raising the total so far this year to 195, according to preliminary figures.
