Health agency warns of fake restaurant inspectors

The Arkansas Department of Health says it's received several reports of people posing as fraudulent restaurant inspectors.

The Health Department said some restaurants have received phone calls from entities claiming to be state inspectors who want to schedule restaurant inspections. In some cases, restaurants were asked to call a certain telephone number.

The department said its inspections are always unannounced so no one from the department calls to schedule them. The department said restaurants should always ask for proper identification before allowing anyone to inspect a kitchen or food preparation area.
