The three major school districts in Pulaski County have announced that they will be closed Tuesday due to the area’s winter weather.

Officials with the North Little Rock School District announced their closure in a news release on Monday afternoon. The Little Rock and Pulaski County Special school districts announced that they will be closed Tuesday on their official Facebook pages.

A later release from Vernell Bowen, Superintendent of Little Rock Catholic Schools, announced they would be closed Tuesday as well, due to icy road conditions.

The school districts are joining several others across the state, particularly those in northwest and northeast Arkansas, in closing for the second straight day. A severe line of ice, rain, sleet and snow made its way into the state late Sunday afternoon, forcing closures of schools, businesses and several government agencies on Monday.

Early indications show that, while no further winter weather is expected around most of the state on Tuesday, temperatures are expected to dip into the 20s and teens overnight Monday in some parts of the state, which could allow ground conditions to refreeze.
