2 from Jonesboro, Roland win thousands in state lottery

Two Arkansas men recently had strokes of luck with a couple of scratch-off tickets, Arkansas Scholarship Lottery officials announced Tuesday.

Jacob McDonald, of Roland, won $250,000 off a $10 "100x the Cash" ticket that he bought at the Neighborhood Shell gas station at 19500 Cantrell Road in Roland, lottery officials said in a news release. Kelly Klingensmith, of Jonesboro, also has become $100,000 richer off a $5 "50x the Cash" ticket, which he bought at the Citgo gas station at 5514 Stadium Blvd. in Jonesboro.

McDonald told officials that he plans to put the money in the bank, and Klingensmith said he plans to use his winnings to pay bills.

Meanwhile, the Mega Millions jackpot is up to $309 million, and the Natural State jackpot is at $260,000. Both of those drawings will take place Tuesday. The jackpot for the Powerball drawing, which will occur Wednesday, is estimated at $60 million.
