A GENEROUS DINNER

20th anniversary program salutes eye institute donors

The generosity of donors was celebrated at Twenty Years of Philanthropy on Feb. 28 along with the 20th anniversary of the Harvey and Bernice Jones Eye Institute and the 10th anniversary of the Pat Walker Tower. The reception and dinner was held at the Country Club of Little Rock.

The 10,000-square-foot institute, which includes the tower, is part of the campus at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. The institute cares for more than 30,000 patients a year with the mission to preserve and restore vision.

Craig O’Neill was master of ceremonies at a program after dinner. Dr. John P. Shock, former chairman of ophthalmology and founding director of the institute, was presented with a framed proclamation from the UA Board of Trustees naming him professor emeritus. The presentation was made by current director Dr. Christopher Westfall.

A video honoring major supporters of the institute - Pat Walker, who was present; her late husband, Willard, and the late Harvey and Bernice Jones - was also shown.
