Deputy sheriff killed in 3-car crash

TEXARKANA, Ark. — A deputy sheriff was killed in a three-vehicle crash in southwestern Arkansas.

The Texarkana Gazette reports that Lafayette County Chief Deputy Sheriff Pete Richardson died Monday afternoon after the jeep he was driving collided with an oncoming vehicle on U.S. Highway 82 west of Lewisville, Ark.

Richardson was driving westbound with a passenger when he hit an oncoming vehicle. That vehicle then hit a tractor-trailer rig.

Drivers of those two vehicles as well as the passenger in the jeep were injured and transported to nearby hospitals.

Authorities continue to investigate the accident.
