Prayerful Designing Women defy limits at yearly breakfast

Year of Release was the theme of Designing Women Ministries’ ninth annual Prayer Breakfast, held March 15 in the ballroom of the Embassy Suites in Little Rock. Designing Women Ministries was founded by Cynthia Austin, owner and stylist for the salon of that name in Little Rock.

The event honorees were Jennifer Johnson of Full Counsel Ministries; Marilyn Cook of Transformation Center International in Texarkana, Texas; vocalist Nicky Parrish; Glomicha Townsend of Longley Baptist Church;and Theresa Timmons, creator of Timmons Arts Foundation and Designers Choice Fashion Preview.

The program began with a fiery praise session by Brenda Hinton-Price, master of ceremonies, and an equally fiery scripture and prayer by Malessia Poe. Highlights included a praise dance, praise-team selections and a solo performance. A $500 scholarship was awarded from the ministry to Little Rock Central High School student Allyssa Thomas.

Citing Luke 7:36-39, speaker Carolyn Ramsey, senior pastor of Destiny Worship Center in Pine Bluff, exhorted listeners to forge ahead in their individual ministries despite any opposition - “it’s time to take the limits off” - and to prophesy that long-awaited blessings would soon be forthcoming - “this is your season to be set free.”

The breakfast concluded with remarks from Austin, who announced a similar Designing Women event to take place Sept. 13 in Dallas.
