Internationally acclaimed violinist Rachel Barton Pine will head up master classes, improvisation workshops and rehearsals as part of a three-day Youth Rock Camp, a partnership of the Arkansas Symphony and sponsoring radio station KPPT-FM, 94.1, “The Point,” Friday-Sunday at Wildwood Park for the Arts, 20919Denny Road, Little Rock. It culminates in a 3 p.m. Sunday concert with Pine as soloist and ASO Youth Orchestra Conductor Geoffrey Robson on the podium for a program that pairs classical composers Jean Sibelius, Max Bruch, Antonio Vivaldi and Niccolo Paganini with the Pine-arranged rock and heavy metal sounds of Van Halen, Metallica, Nirvana, Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Rush and Led Zeppelin. The American Lung Association invites everyone to test their stamina by climbing the more than 700 steps at Little Rock’s War Memorial Stadium in the annual Fight for Air Climb, 8 a.m.-noon Saturday. Of course, if the stairs are too daunting, there’s also the noncompetitive two-mile run/walk around the outside of the stadium. While the race is going on, children can enjoy bouncy houses, games and other activities on the football field in the YMCA of Metropolitan Little Rock’s Healthy Kids Day.
