‘Rhapsodies in Blue’ marks sorority’s 40th anniversary

A chilly evening drizzle failed to rain on the parade of “Rhapsodies in Blue” taking center stage at the Arkansas Enterprises for the Developmentally Disabled Multipurpose Center in Little Rock. The March 22 event was part of the 40th Anniversary Gala of the Eta Sigma Zeta chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority.

A short program began with a welcome by chapter president Kathy Tatum, who observed, “To us, 40 never looked so good,” and words by charter member Dorothy Williams, who serves on the North Little Rock School Board. Chapter members, whose formal attire reflected the official sorority colors of royal blue and white, were presented during a blue-carpet processional.

Attendees enjoyed a buffet dinner, catered by MC Creative Affairs; a slide show, “Sisterhood: Reflections of the Journey”; and dancing to the sounds of the Rock Nation Band. A champagne toast and anniversary cake were also highlights of the evening.
