Tim Griffin and his wife, Elizabeth, fill out paperwork to vote early while their son, Jack, waits behind them Tuesday.

U.S. Rep. Tim Griffin, a Republican who chose not to seek a third term in Congress and instead is running for lieutenant governor, on Tuesday voted early.

Griffin and his wife cast their ballots Tuesday morning at the Pulaski County Regional Building in Little Rock ahead of the May 20 primary election. Griffin faces Republican state Reps. Debra Hobbs and Andy Mayberry in the race.

After voting, Griffin said he would continue to keep a full campaign schedule through Election Day.

"We feel good about where we are, but we know it's not over till it's over," he said.

Griffin said he chose to cast an early ballot because he has votes scheduled in Congress on May 20.

"We wanted to get this done," he said. "We don't want to take any chances. We want to make sure we get our votes recorded."
