A pedestrian died Saturday after being struck by a car in Fort Smith, state police said.
Vivian Joyce Barton, 62, of Fort Smith was walking her bicycle west on Grand Avenue near North 35th Street about 6 p.m. when a Chevrolet Malibu, also going west, hit her.
Barton was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Malibu driver was 57-year-old Diana Sisk, also of Fort Smith. The investigation is ongoing.
Another fatal accident occurred about 5:40 a.m. Monday on U.S. 167 in Pulaski County.
Cecil Smith, 55, of Sheridan was driving a Toyota Prius north when he struck the back of a Peterbilt semitruck, causing the back axle to detach.
Smith was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the semitruck, 64-year-old Cleon Warren of Homer, La., was not injured.
